Queen Bee Creations:
In 1995, I designed a vinyl wallet for myself, which is now called the Wonder Wallet--that was the beginning of Queen Bee. I photocopied a very crude but cute mail-order catalog that I sent out to a handful of people.
I remember thinking, "It would be so great if just a few stores would want to carry Queen Bee." We began selling wholesale to a couple boutiques and now sell to stores in most states in the country as well as overseas. What began as a little cut-and-paste catalog enterprise has blossomed into a retail and wholesale endeavor that sells unique handmade accessories to folks worldwide.
Luckily, Redd came around in 2000 and volunteered to help me with my burgeoning business for a few hours a week. Now we run the show together as business partners with lots of help from five great employees--three sewers, a production assistant, and a shipping
and customer service maven. We take pride in sewing and finishing, in-house, all the products that we sell--that is rare these days! We put a tremendous amount of time, care and creativity into everything we make and do. To see photos of us in action, visit our
Web site. Thanks for supporting our small business.

Splaff:
Splaff Flopps started in a garage in 1997 with a tire, a bike tube and a shoe knife. The vision was to make comfortable, long-lasting, fairly priced sandals from recycled materials. Today Splaff Flopps are handcrafted in California with the same integrity. The soles are made with recycled car tires, the straps are made with used bicycle inner tubes, the footbed covering and strap linings are made with hemp fabric, and the mid-sole is made with regupol (a cushioned material made from used tires
that have been chipped and pressed into mats). Splaff Flopps are produced in a 100
percent waste-free process in which all leftover materials are either reused or recycled.
Our commitment to the environment and the consumer is genuine. No shortcuts have been taken. We collect, sort, cut and clean the recycled tires and bicycle inner tubes ourselves to guarantee the quality of these recycled materials.
Splaff Flopps are field-tested by surfers who virtually live in their flip flops and often own no other footwear. In order to gain approval among the surfing community, we had to develop sandals that were both strong and comfortable. Splaff Flopps are available with either an exposed black recycled rubber footbed or with an additional layer of natural colored hemp covering the footbed. Both versions use hemp in the strap linings and are equally comfortable. The black recycled rubber footbed is waterproof, slip resistant and odorless.

Sarah Kramer:
Sarah Kramer combined her love of food and her
love of animals into a home-made cookbook zine to give to
friends and family as x-mas presents. Reaction to the zine was
so overwhelming that she realized that she was on to something
special and her aspirations to do something with her life that
made a difference in the world soon became a reality.
This tiny little zine grew into the best selling cookbook How It
All Vegan (which has sold over 1,000,000+ copies and is often
referred to by fans as “The Vegan Bible”) only to be followed by
it’s triumphant sequel The Garden of Vegan which is hot on HIAV
heels as a best seller. HIAV has also been awarded the 2003/2004
Veg News Veggie award for Best Veg Cookbook. Sarah was awarded
Veg News Veggie award for favourite cookbook author in 2005
Sarah is known for her sassy vintage style and layman's approach
to Veganism, and has been joyfully spreading the Vegan gospel to
anyone who will listen. Appearing on national TV shows like
Canada AM and W-5 as well as local shows like New Day Live,
Breakfast Television and Go Magazine, she has also appeared as a
guest on numerous radio stations such as CBC and NPR. Sarah also
does live cooking appearances at festivals such as Word on The
Street, Earth Save events and Vegetarian Conferences throughout
Canada and the United States.
A self confessed web junkie, Sarah created a safe haven at her
website GoVegan.net for Vegan and curious Vegans to meet and
talk about issues. She also writes a regular column for
Herbivore Magazine as well as running The Tattoo zoo with her
husband/artist Gerry Kramer. When she's not at the tattoo shop,
she's in her kitchen working hard on perfecting recipes for her
new cookbook (La Dolce Vegan! by Sarah Kramer) which is
available now!
Sarah was born and bred in Regina, Saskatchewan and hopped on a
train in 1988 and headed west for Victoria BC, where she has
lived ever since. She enjoys long walks on the beach. She laughs
loudly during movies...even when nobody else is laughing. She
loves puppies and kittens and is scared to go into the basement
by herself. She lives with her husband Gerry and Fergus the Dog,
on a nice street somewhere near the beach in Victoria.
Sarah believes that Veganism is not just about food, but is a
positive compassionate lifestyle choice. She believes the
choices we make, however small (from the food that we eat to the
shoes that we choose to buy) have a direct impact on how the
world turns. Never one to bash people over the head with an
aggressive message, Sarah believes that it only takes one tiny
spark to start a fire and she has a pack of matches and is ready
to burn!
